The TPACK

In today's lesson we learned that PK is Pedagogical knowledge, CK is Content Knowledge, and TK is Technological Knowledge.  When you combine the whole package it is TPACK which is Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge.  When you combine all of those, you are able to teach the kids in an all-encompassing way.  Most teachers are really good at their CK and PK, but have a hard time with TK.  There are many things that you can do to use TK that will enhance the lessons and the children's learning.  The optimal teaching option is TPACK.

We also learned how to use Stelarium.  It is a free resource to document and show what the sky is like in different parts of the world.  You can also use it to teach constellations and patterns of the planets, moon, and sun.

RSS Feed and Webtools 2.0

This is a wonderful resource to know how to use! I did not know about the RSS feed before this lesson. Now I will be able to stay updated on sites that may have needed information. If I want to keep updated on the National Geographics to see what will interest my students, I can add the RSS feed to that. I can also add it to stay updated on fellow teacher's blogs.

I also really enjoyed the lessons about Goodreads and Delicious. Both sites are and will be extremely helpful during my teaching career.

Initial Post

My technology experience is quite limited.  I have done email through gmail, hotmail, and juno (back in the day).  I have a blog where I keep updates for my family members.  It is one of the blogs that already had everything set up on the site so I didn't have to change it at all when I got it.  I have worked with powerpoint but it still frustrates me.  I have worked with the BYU website and I mostly understand that. :)  Excel is an unknown beast to me.  I have no idea how to work with excel.  I do not know anything about creating my very own website or anything like that.
