Peer Reviews

It was awesome to see everyone's ideas for integrating technology into their classrooms. My two favorite lessons were about building bridges and the other was a jeopardy game just like the one I did. The one for building bridges used tons of pictures and interaction about how to build them which I thought was very effective. The jeopardy one was a lot like mine where they used jeopardy to review a certain subject. The kids loved all the projects and it was really helpful to get so many ideas from my classmates!

Read, Watch, Do

I really enjoyed the articles and videos I watched. I was grateful for the assignment and for what I have learned!

I talked to my brother about it. He has 5 children and the oldest one just turned 11. He is very computer-savvy and so it was very interesting to talk about what I learned with him. We discussed the internet problems issues and ways his family could stay safe with the internet. He has already put a filter on his computer and he keeps his computer in the living room. He also talked to me about some of his concerns about cell phone pornography and other worries he has. It was a very enlightening conversation and very eye-opening with some of the concerns he brought up. I really enjoyed this assignment!

Internet Safety

I chose to read http://www.lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=ac58759235d0c010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____. It's an article about how to enjoy the benefits of the internet while still keeping it a safe place for your children.

The articles had many things in common. Some of the main points I got were that you need to keep your computer in a main traffic place, have a filter on your internet, and see how to see the history of websites. Another thing that I thought was a good idea was one article said that you should instruct your children that if something sexual or inappropriate pops up, they need to come and tell the parent immediately. That takes a away the shame and mystery of it. I thought it was a really good idea.

After reading all of these articles, I am a much more conscious person as far as internet safety goes. I had no idea about how scary the internet can be.

It is extremely beneficial for parents to be conscientious about the internet and safety for their children. They need to make sure they are spending more time with their children than their children are spending in a virtual reality. We need to make sure our children have a real reality, rather than a virtual one.
